Julie Vézina is an attorney who holds a Master’s degree in taxation from the Université de Sherbrooke. Before joining the Canadian Tax Foundation in 2018 as regional director for Québec, she worked mainly within professional services firms and specialized in various fields of law and taxation. Ms. Vézina spent the first two years of her career in labour law defending the rights of employees and workers’ compensation claimants, and participating in collective agreement and contact negotiations.

After returning to school, where she specialized in taxation, Ms. Vézina embarked on a career in accounting. For over 18 years, she helped several Canadian corporations develop projects in Canada and abroad and assisted numerous foreign corporations set up businesses in Canada.  A one-year assignment as a consultant to a major international client opened the door for Ms. Vézina to deepen her knowledge of the engineering and construction world and gain a better understanding of businesses’ needs and realities.

In 2015, Ms. Vézina was made a partner in the International Tax division of PwC.

In addition to her technical expertise, Ms. Vézina has always been known for her collaborative approach based on open communication and knowledge sharing. Using this approach, Ms. Vézina has built strong relationships with her clients, her fellow team members and her partners. Throughout her career, she has taken the time to teach classes at HEC Montréal and the Université de Sherbrooke. She has also given several conferences and training sessions to her colleagues, tax specialists and clients. As a volunteer, she has been involved in the management and strategic planning of various non-profit organizations working in the tax field, including the Canadian Tax Foundation and the International Fiscal Association Canada.

While Ms. Vézina enjoys the field of taxation with all its complexities, knowledge sharing is her true passion. In her role as the Québec regional director of the Canadian Tax Foundation, she leverages this passion to help students and Foundation members make their way in the constantly changing world of taxation. On a larger scale, her goal is to contribute to the advancement of the Canadian tax system.
